Maybe that is how the dealership finds they best sell their new cars, all jazz, no substance. no surprise, all the new cars are junk, the buyers are impressed with all the wrong "features". He needs a different video to sell to us!

Now down to $5000...all in two weeks.
Funny - as I'd mentioned two weeks ago, I sent the dealer a note about the shift lever boot being askew and the missing clutch pedal pad. I did not expect an acknowledgement.
Oddly, last Friday I received an automatic reply from "Limbaugh Toyota Management" asking if I'd received a reply to my query. I answered that I had not and reiterated my suggestions. No reply as of yet...

Gee - and all for only $5K - such a deal!
Maybe the tires are mismatched, whence the reluctance to shift to 2WD? Or maybe...?

i wouldn't worry about shifting out of 4WD, since it can be tricky. the car was probably not on gravel or snow which would make it difficult. the CV is just stupid though, it would take a half hour for them to replace it. sigh, dealerships...

Sorry about the late response to this posting. This car was for sale shortly after my 86 was totaled and I was looking for a viable 2nd Tercel. I traded phone calls and emails with Limbaugh Toyota, a salesman who gave me the name Roy Howard sent me the attached pictures of the car and claimed it was going through some touch ups to fix oxidation. The first conversation I had with him he gave me the price of $3,000. Over the course of a week we traded emails and phone calls, mostly me requesting more information about the car, and him not giving me any information. When I finally got some specifics on mileage, and photographs (these were the only 3 I got) I decided to go for it. I was literally at the bank arranging for funds to purchase the car, sight unseen, and have it delivered when he told me the owner of the dealership decided to keep it as a showroom display and would not sell it right away. I pressed further to see if we could arrange sale and shipment of the car when they were done using it as a display. After another few days of phone tag he told me they would sell me it would be another 6 months, and because they had to "put so much into the car" the price of the car was now $7,000.00

Did this car find a home? is the owner here?

Buyer Beware

look, it even comes with a green tree air freshener. It must make it worth more (not!).

On one of my cross country Tercel rescue trips, a Tercel that I bought to fix and bring home to resell, came with a brand new one of those still in the wrapper (I found it in the glove box). Since the car was full of parts and the carpet was very dirty (that I was going to clean after I got home), I thought I would use the air freshener for the trip home to cover up some of the musty smells in the car. Big mistake. I just opened the plastic wrap and tossed in the back with the luggage and car parts, very soon the "fresh sent" overwhelmed the inside of the car, making me dizzy and sick to my stomach. Even thought it was October I had to drive with the window rolled down to keep from gagging, the air vents were not enough airflow. Next gas stop it went into the trash.

I always here "Click and Clack" on Car Talk radio make fun of those air fresheners, and I would see them hanging in everything from VWs to Cadillacs, but I never used one until than. I can not understand their attraction, not only do they look silly, they do not really improve the air but can overwhelm it with their odor.

Ha, yeah, gag-0-riffic! Terc II was a heavy smoker car, it stunk so bad my eyes were watering and itchy, I had to drive it back from Colorado with the windows rolled down for air flow (in 20 degree weather).

Those "Click and Clack" guys always bag on the Tercel like it's a worthless car, I love their show, but the lack of respect where it's due is a Killjoy.

I do not remember click and clack dissing the Tercel (I have heard most of their broadcasts). I have heard a guy call in with a problem with the brakes (it was given to him after it was in storage for 10 years). They did not say anything bad about the Tercel, and were helpful to him since he sounded like a competent self-wrencher (though they did not tell him one likely cause of the mushy brakes was the re-manufactured master he installed!).

I have heard a local call-in radio show that is hosted by some of the mechanics from a local Japanese car repair chain always discourage people from buying a Tercel4wd (they are popular around here, and one of the few older cars still on the road!). The reason they gave was because their mechanics do not like working on older cars, and they are unfamiliar with carburetors. IOW, entirely selfish motives, as if everyone that will buy a Tercel will be bringing it to them to have it fixed. So that chain is on my "do not recommend" list! If that is how they "help" the callers on their radio show than I do not think I would trust them to work on a car either.

I have had several cars with smoke smell, usually a good cleaning of all surfaces and a Fabreeze treatment works. One recent purchase of a Honda CRV has not be so easy to remove the smell after a number of different products were used. (Cleaned head liner twiced, used three different deoderizer products including Fabreez to no effect). It appears however that "Smoke Be Gone" did the trick! works great! two bottles for about $10 shipped! I highly recommend it.
