Very interesting, if you want to kill some time before the boss returns.

Yano - I've always wondered - how is it that Land Rovers are so unbeatable in military service "over there and elsewhere" and do unimaginable things in Africa - and yet in at least Middle North America are such POSs and unreliable and, despite some having aluminum bodies, rust almost as fast as early Land Crushers?

Coulda bought one maybe 25 yrs ago for $700 I think....was maybe a 60s model. Maybe a little late for that one?
A lot come up on Craigslist, but most are later models.

Re: Land Rover Auction ! ! !
Great find! After getting over my infatuation with jeeps when I was in 4th-5th grade, I moved on to Land Rovers. A several collage friends of mine had them, one had several he would buy wrecked for parts and piece them together. Seems you could buy them for $600-700 if they needed work, but there were almost a cult car since they just never made good daily drivers. He even owned an Austin Champ (had a 4 cylinder 4 liter engine). He eventually gave up on them, sold them all, and moved on to the early Subarus, gave up on those and went to Toyota 4x4 trucks and has owned them ever since.
I still like those old rugged type of real off road vehicles, but I do not think you can depend on them for daily drivers. Unlike the Toyotas. Can you tell what those Rovers sell for from that site?

It's from an auction occurring this Sunday; perhaps the prices will be on the site after then.Petros wrote: Can you tell what those Rovers sell for from that site?
I still wonder how they could have been so all-conquering in the wilds of Africa and so so awful here. I wouldn't think it would be solely on the distances we have in North America. I mean, many of those roads over there were simply ox tracks from 1712!

The Australian Army has some pretty interesting Landies over in the middle East. Sort of a colonial Hummer.
