Tailgate interior light switch?

The Tercel was rear ended last week. Nothing too serious, but needs a new bumper and a few dents straightened out of the tailgate. Right now the "door open" light on the dash is lit, and it should have to do with the switch for the tailgate, but......where the heck is it? I'm baffled!

The switch is down inside the latch in the door...I had a hard time finding it on mine. I only found where it was by removing the wire going to that area and seeing the light go on and off....I didn't actually see it.
