swap deep cycle battery for alternator?
Just curious has anyone ever tried running without an alternator, and just using a deep cycle battery? I know nothing about this practice, but I recall reading something about it a while back on another forum...some toyota van guys were trying to up their fuel mileage.

Switching to all synth fluids should give you as good a mileage improvement with improved long term reliability. Doing the total loss power thing will drastically reduce the reliability of your car. Especially if you are driving at night.

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

The only time I've seen it is when someone is too cheap to fix their alternator or buy a new battery instead of robbing the boat's battery.
Ignition is hotter at charging voltage too.
Sounds like a bad idea to me.
