Hey guys I got a 4X4 toyota pickup w/ the 22re from my father in law recently. The clutch wasn't disengaging right so I replaced the hydrolic parts. Master and slave and then bled it. It was amazing how much more travel the slave got after that. Well after that it was still having trouble disengaging. Rough shifting and stuff. When all of a sudden it acted like the clutch was completely gone. No slipping no smells not even a noise that I noticed. I checked to make sure the t case isn't in nuetral. I can push the truck while in any gear in my driveway and it feels like neutral.
Is this a clutch fork problem? Why would it act like the clutch is depressed all the time. I have never had this problem before on another vehicle. I know it isn't a tercel but I know you guys don't treat people like idiots when they ask a question so I wanted to start here.

Re: 4x4 P/U clutch question
The system wasn't contaminated with atf or ps fluid was it? This swells rubber(wrecks brakes too), and if the hose is swelled inside it will act like a check valve that lets pressure thru but not back out. Crack the bleeder and see if the slave relaxes and the clutch engages. If so you have a pressure build up problem. The hose is all that's left in your case. If not a pressure build, it certainly could be a mechanical problem in the bell housing
If it's a contamination, hopefully the brakes were spared. All hydraulics except the steel line need rebuild/replacement at that point.
To tell if DOT3 is contaminated, put a sample in a cup of water. Brake fluid will mix with water. Bad news floats on top.

Re: 4x4 P/U clutch question
I once owned a 2wd verion of this truck, rebuilt the engine on it. Check to see if the slave is still going in and out when you depress the pedal. If not the problem is in the master/slave cyl linkage system, or in the hose, as SD pointed out. If the hydraulic linkage is working that means it could be a problem with the clutch, like the disk has separated from the spline sleeve, that means the trans has to come out.
Hopefully it is something simple. good luck.

Oh yeah I forgot to say that I did check the slave and it gets full range of motion. I think it is something in the bellhousing. Not excited.
