parts: what to get while the getting is good

Post by dlb »

hey fellas. so the sad day has come when my friend who works at the parts place is leaving for a new job. she's got me some insane deals over the last few years, usually at least 40% off, so i want to know if there is anything i might need that i should order before she's gone. i've got about a week so fire away!

clutch and t/o bearing, front and rear wheel bearings, front axle assemblies, radiator. Front struts, rear shocks. There are other things of course, like belts, hoses and seals, but these are not that costly, you need to get the expensive stuff.

Things that are harder to find, like thermostatic switches for the rad fan, heater fan resistor packs, MUDFLAPS!, clutch pedal bushing?, Window regulators, non-AC vent tube from the fan into the heater system (for those times when you want to remove an AC unit). My suggestions... :D

Just for a laugh, check prices on 30lb kegs of R134a. Prices have been skyrocketing since last summer. Currently they are $250ish right now(up from 90 last year) and could hit 360 by summer. They might not deal on it though. But 40% off could make for a nice profit. Many shops haven't been on top of this and will find out the hard way when the season hits.

Back to the T4. Brake hoses and wheel cylinders, tune up parts, rear axle seals/bearings,front bearings, synthetic gear/motor oil,oil filters, fuel pump, ignition coil or whole dist. Probably more parts that all of us missed so far.

You could save so much money that you go broke!
