HI All
Boy, am I glad I found this forum! I have an option to buy a '84 Tercel for the equivalent of $1000.00. Body work still in good condition, and engine seems to be running smoothly. Thank you too for your repair manual, which I have downloaded, and using extensively!
Question: Under the hood, next to the engine is the plactic box containing the relays, and some fuses. Unfortunately, a previous owner has swopped some relays for his own design. My problem is that the decal (on the box lid) has worn off, so I cannot see which relay goes where!
Can anybody post me a pick of this decal (on the lid), or perhaps clearly explain which relay is situated where?
Your help appreciated
Regards

Re: Decal on relay/fuse box missing
Welcome to the list!
I do not think we have had a member from south africa before. Great to have you, post pictures of your car if possible. IT would be interesting to see how your Tercel is equipped.
You might have relays and fuses in different places than on our cars in North America. I thought there was an identical diagram in the FSM as on the lid to the box. I can not post a picture today, but here is what is on my '84 Tercel4wd, SR5. It reads standing from left side fender (facing the engine) from top (end closest to the engine) to bottom (end closest to the fender):
top row of 3 small square boxes: "AM-10A", blank box with diagonal line through it, "CMH-40A"
second row of 3 small square boxes" "A/C-30A"," RADIATOR FAN-30A", blank box with diagonal line through it.
Words under 2nd row: FUSIBLE LINKS
Third row, 2 large circles: "AC", "Main" (these look like relays)
fourth row, one large circle: "Radiator Fan"
fifth row, one large square and one large circle: square with diagonal line through it, "HEAD"
sixth row, two thin rectangles: 15A Radio no.1, 15A engine
seventh row, two thin rectangles: diagonal line, 15A HEAD (LH)
eighth row, two thin rectangles: diagonal line, 15A HEAD-(RH)
Ninth row, two thin rectangles: 15A HAZ-HORN, 7.5A CHARGE
Perhaps someone else can post pictures. If the previous owner had rearranged your fuse/relay box than you will also have some sorting out to do. I assume BTW, that the positions with diagonal line are unused ports, inside it appears like you can plug something into these locations but they have no fuse or relay in them. You also might check the wiring diagam for verification of equipment and wire color codes.
Good luck.
