Great video clip about old hot rods.

Post by Petros »

The Cars we drove, what we did and songs we listened to.

Someone did an awesome job putting this together and with sound to boot. At the very end of the video you'll hear the song 'Thunder Road' sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme; not uncommon except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum!

Enjoy viewing the cars that were driven in the 50's and 60's:

Well - these are shore some purty cars. But I think they existed (in those days) only where America ends at the Pacific Ocean.

Most kids didn't have the bucks to do much...those are a lot of pre-boomer fantasies? Did see what might have been an old straight 8 Hudson tooling down the freeway lowered...dark blue...real cool ride. A lot of old dudes going out in style these days....or just a livin' in the past?

Unfortunately, I recognized most of those cars, owned a few of them.

It's so cool to see how wild the cars of the '50s and '60s were. I can't imagine living in a time when it was normal to see cars like that on every road. Seeing all the show cars of that era, they are so beautiful they're like jewelery or fine art. If my house was big enough, I'd put one in my living room like most people put precious works of art. LOL.

My boomer father spends 5 days a week in his shop working on classic hot rods. All of his social functions revolve around like-minded friends. I do believe the curves in the windshields make the world look like 1962 again.

That's so awesome about your dad. My boyfriend and I spend all our free time working on our project cars too. Like your dad, all our friends and social functions revolve around like-minded people. I've autocrossed my cars and enjoyed hanging out at car club meets ever since I was old enough to drive. I guess it's a side effect of having been the daughter of a mechanic, you grow up learning to appreciate cars. I wish my dad was alive to see what sits in my garages and driveway; he would be in awe.
