bite your tongue, synth! BM has definitely grown in popularity but i wouldn't call it commercialized at all. there is still absolutely zero advertising allowed, and the money from the tickets is put towards the massive infrastructure and grants for all the artists dragging their sh*t down there. so while $240 is a lot to pay for a festival, i keep in mind that the $ i'm contributing is going towards helping make the event as large and incredible as it is. and for how big it is, it's pretty amazing that so many people have still never heard of it; i can't count the number of people i've tried to explain it to.

anyway, the invite is there if you feel like coming, and i def hope to stop by and say hi and go for a ride in your whip! the wife and i will be in the westfalia but ron will be with us in spirit.

Hey, I have two teenage daughters (well, actually the older one just turned 21), they introduced me to it. What could be more cool than the reinvention of modern machines using "old world" techniques? I even thought of a whole steam punk sports car, get an old 4wd Toyota truck chassis, build a body out of varnished wood plank-on-frame (think vanished wood speed boat from the 50's here for a body style), and have all polished external plumbing on it, large "steam" type gauges on the insterment panel, dark red leather tuck and roll upholstery like fancy horse drawn carriage seats, what could be cooler?. since I have built 13 wood boats, and always play with old cars, I thought it would be a fun creative challenge to mix the two ideas, and steam punk is perfect for that.

I did not realize BM became a venue for Steampunk, would be a fun place to drive a steam punk land yacht however. Your campsite would have to use a big canvas tent complete with wooden folding table and chairs, huge cast iron pots around a fire. What fun.

Always happy to get the parts I have no plans on using out of the garage, help a fellow T4wd owner, and gain a few more $ for my next Tercel upgrade. Win-win.
