Hi guys, I can't seem to locate (what I assume is here) a complete guide for installing both D and P side front axles. I've got the assemblies ready to go, but would love your advice, i.e. how long is this gonna take? Snow is forecast for tomorrow, and I can put in about 4 hours tonight before I freeze my butt off.
Thanks,
Blake

here's one:

shouldn't take too long if you don't run into any frozen (as in stuck) parts. keep a hammer and some penetrating oil handy just in case. i replaced mine a while ago and found the CV didn't quite want to slide into the differential but i could get the old one in and out without too much headache. i wound up pulling the c-clips off both axles and putting the old clip on the new axle. it went in fine then. watch for tranny fluid leaks afterwards though, some board members have reported leaks from the seals in the differential after replacing CVs.
good luck!

Thanks!
All done. Piece of cake, really. We did it with 2 people (one of whom has done it before) in about 2 hours using axles pulled off one of our recent junkers. Only downside is we skewed the alignment so the car pulls to the left, so that' s the next project.

Re: Repair guide for replacing front axles?
There is no reason to alter the alignment when replacing the front axles, you must have altered or removed something that is not necessary. I leave the whole strut and hub (or knuckle) assembly completely intact, I just unbolt the two 12mm bolts that hold on the ball joint, that allows you to swing it out far enough to clear the axle spline. You do not even have to remove the tie-rod or brakes.
