At least two members have done the Weber conversion.I would use this sites search-engine to locate the posts concerning Webers...and if you find a cost~efective way to make headers,post-it! :)

I would also like to hear from the Weber guys here and I have a question that hasn't been asked before. Does it get very cold where you live and how does the Weber cope with it? The stock carb has alot of features to improve cold weather driveability that you have to disable when you install a Weber. Stock carbs still don't fare too well because the systems don't do what they're supposed to as it gets older or other factors come into play that make it work bad despite those systems. My automatic choke and fast idle are completely screwed.

I put a Weber on a Type IV VW Bus engine. The only problem I had was with carburetor icing in damp winter weather. I had to add a hot air intake to the air filter housing. That cured it.

i did it. too much money and not enough gain.
im in the process of putting one on my 85 chevy s10, but im also adding edelbrock intake. in the summer i will put on the edelbrock headers and have someone put the edelbrock cam in.
but on the tercel just adding a weber was was ok but not worth the money. and no a/c idle up. and according to the place i purchased it the factory cruise wont work. Same thing with my s10.

I swapped to the Weber carb about two years ago, and gained a massive amount of useable power, radically improved throttle response, and about 75% less complexity under the hood.

Single best performance enhancement that can be done to these cars, in my opinion. Best money I have spent on the car, by far.

These carbs can be found all day, used on eBay... and the manifold adapter can be had for about $20, from any authorized Weber dealer.

If you have to pass emissions, you might want to consider keeping the stock carb...
the Weber naturally tends to run a little richer.

I have removed all of my emissions related gear, to include the cat, and would never consider keeping the stock carb setup, for reliability, simplicity and performance reasons.

And what about cold weather performance? I guess the choke is just about all you really need and all the other crap that the 3A-C uses is just to try to warm it up faster or make it run more efficiently when cold. If you use a carb, you can always make it run leaner by taking out the air filter. That's how I passed emissions the last time around.

really, how about doing a quick write up to also include setting time and see some close up pictures at all angles. cause I didnt see THAT much of an improvement, maybe i did something wrong. my gas mileage did go up cant remember how much though.

Whatever you do, make sure you do the damn conversion right.
Get the right manifold adapter.
Put the right gaskets on it.
Make sure the adapter or the carb has an intake for the PCV valve line.
The rest of the vacuum hoses can be plugged shut.

I take my Tercel with the Weber up into the snow here in Tasmania every winter without too many problems.

And I've driven a Tercel without the Weber and it felt so flat and gutless it wasn't funny. The 32/36 DGAV I've got makes such a difference.

How's your new '84 Tercel 4wd deluxe? You're lucky to have such a clean engine.
