Rear brake hose part #?
My rear wheel cylinder seeps, my pads/shoes are the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper, my hoses bulge.....so I am planning to consider replacing my brakes sometime within the new few years. The problem is I cannot locate the single rear flex hose, all sources list two. The boys at AZ/Ho'Reilly's claim that one of their rear hoses is the same as the single, but they want me to order them without a possible refund. Anyone have a part number? Thanks.

Re: Rear brake hose part #?
I dug out my receipt from 2006 from AZ and the numbers are still valid today (I just checked):
PS #77215 was $9 now $13
DS #88642 was $7 now $10
As a point of reference, they are still OE available:
PS #96950-33005 only $48, with Butler $29
DS #96959-32605 only $44, with Butler $32
Kind of a hard choice between vendors, huh?
And anecdotally, the OE hoses, while not leaking, were pretty cracked after 20 years; the AZ 2006 replacements were just fine a couple of months ago.

Re: Rear brake hose part #?
most of the Tercel4wd have two flex hoses to the rear axle, but as Danzo points out, and other have experienced, there are some Trecels with only one flex hose to the rear axle. He wanted to know if they are the same, it appears the left and right hose of a two flex hose brake system are not the same. So who knows which if any of these two he needs for his one hose system?

Re: Rear brake hose part #?
This is interesting - I blithely ignored that he was looking for a single-hose setup.
But...
I have an '86 as well. I just looked on the EPC list again, and the 4WD models (and 2WD wagons as well) are all shown with two different hoses (the sedans show two hoses, but the same one). I really don't recall anyone mentioning that their system used a single hose at the rear.
Didn't the MC send two lines to the rear for safety purposes on all cars? Did the two have a union somewhere on some cars?
I guess he will just have to measure the hose and go to a manufacturer for tech info - or to an old-fashioned-type parts store with paper catalogs that show brake hose length (they exist, as I was puzzled about front hose length back in 2006).

Re: Rear brake hose part #?
Snyth told me that he had seen an early '83 (manufactured in '82) that used a single hose. So it is interestign that Danzo has an '86 with a single rear flex hose. This is especially odd since the duel hose system was likely a federal requirement for brake safety using some kind of cross over duel system, vs. the older front and rear system (that would only need one flex hose). I wonder if someone swaped out rear axles on Danzo's car? That would not make sence either since the hard lines would all be wrong for the rear axle. Was Danzo's Tercel4wd originally sold in Mexico? It is a mystery.
Danzo, just get the length and match it. They all have similar fittings, so as long as it is long enough you should be good. Or you can have one custom built, get stainless braided hoses with anodized AN fittings on the ends. That would look cool if anyone should ever look under your car.

It was originally sold in Texas, so yes, it was essentially sold in Mexico.Petros wrote:Was Danzo's Tercel4wd originally sold in Mexico? It is a mystery.
There is an excellent shop right around the corner that does all kinds of custom hoses, I had them do some custom stuff for my other car. But I'll prolly just match one from AZ like you said for cheapness's sake. As for the anodized/gold blinged/braided/monogrammed hose - that's simply too Hollywood for me. Thanks for the responses everyone.Petros wrote:Or you can have one custom built, get stainless braided hoses with anodized AN fittings on the ends. So - your car doesn't have the "safety" type brake line routing, huh?
Is it dual to the front only or to the fronts and separate to the rears?

Re: Rear brake hose part #?
My bad/egg on face - I do have two hoses in the rear. When I looked a few weeks ago the car wasn't jacked up and I failed to trace the two hard lines to the center of the car. So I'll be ordering all new hoses from RA at $4 each.
