That and the '85 & up cars have an engine that has better low end power as well. Stalling out, wasted clutches, not enough torque at the wheels to get out of a tight spot & major Tourette's moments, all of these things are much more likely to happen on an '83-'84 t4wd when driven off road, even with stock diameter tires. Slap bigger diameter/heavier wheels on those earlier t4wds and it will be much worse...

I own both an '84 and a '85 t4wd. The difference that the gearing/engine tuning makes driving in the mountains on the pavement is very noticeable and off road the difference is huge.

Not looking to quash your enthusiasm for the concept, just want you to know that the later year t4wds would fit in with your plans much better before you throw a bunch of time & money into your '83.

You also might check your local NAPA and Autozone, I have found that sometimes the local stores regular price is less costly than the "discount" mail order parts after you include shipping. Not always, but sometimes. The local store can usually get them in faster if they do not have them in-stock, and will take care of any wrong parts without hassles.

Yeah I got a autozone and a kragen about half a mile from my huse, they are both in the same parking lot, super competitive. I wouldnt enter kragen again if my life depended on it. Autozone had trouble finding parts for my tercel, i will hit them up later today, I am my babies daddy right now.

Yeah auto zone was pretty much the same price, I just bought OEM, replaced everything, whole new brakes, going to do upgrades down the road when I have all the parts sitting here ready to go.

Here in Tibet...if you can find a lower LOCAL quote on a part other than at Advance...they will match the price...even though their parts are usually a little better quality. AZ tends to have cheaper parts...and since installing them can be a hassle...you want to go with the better parts?

I was just inquiring to your avatar, no need to get hostile, honestly I agree with you, the tercel...any year, is not good for a big lift or rock crawling due to not having straight axle in the front and a shitty 3rd member in the back. I was just posting those big tires in frustration at not being able to find something I really like. If you where paying attention to the thread you would know I was given a link to a tire I do like.

Why do we have a fecal 3rd member?

Hostile? Being done with someone is quite the opposite of hostile.

Please, let it go. Forever would be nice...

I have valve cover off for cleaning and painting, how do I replace valve seals and do a valve adjustment? I am sure there is a write up on here but i have not found it.

The FSM, just like the threads in Repair Questions and Repair Guides and Parts: New and Used, has lots of info that only requires a Search...
