if im not mistaken the sr5 has a 4ac engine not a 4age engine. if you want to keep the EFI on the 4age you need the wiring harness. i dont know what use you buying the sr5 serves??????

you'll need a lot of time and patience. It's actually really easy. All the wiring is self contained within the ECU.

you can tap into the fuel line at the rear of the car and put in a external fuel pump. I used one off of a 200sx turbo.

Other than that...the mounts and brakets will swap over. you will have to purchse some longer bolts and make some backspacers for the a/c and alternator brakcets. The p/s bracket bolts right on.

If you plan on using the tranny from the terc you'll need to re-index the 3a flywheel with the new 8-bolt pattern so you can use it in the stock bellhousing. This is the easiest way.

Next is the exhaust manifold/downpipe. It is on the opposite side of the head. If you are using the stock tranny, you'll need to make a header or manifold that has a forward dump so that the exhaust can come down and go under the car before the x-member. If not, you'll cook your oild filter guts and your starter solenoid.

On the otherhand, if you choose to use the tranny from an AE86, then you have to move the f/e of the corolla into the terc and use the rear disc rear end. It bolts in. An '89 is transversley set so no parts can be used other than the periferals. tranny/mounts/lines can all be thrown away and new ones must be fabbed (except motor mounts).

If this is an AFM engine, then the AFM must go under the passenger fender or it will cook with the heat of the bigger engine in the smaller engine compartment. If it is a MAP engine then be sure to do a FWI.

The intake on a redtop is placed rearward. it will have to be severed and rewelded 180* to its current location.

Other than that, new belts will have to be saut. Bigger fuel lines will be a must if you plan on modifying the engine. With the engine out, now is a good time to do some cleaning!!! it makes life easier!!

Good info!

Couple questions: How did you deal with the distributor on the back of the 20V head? Did it fit ok between the back of the head and the firewall? Also, how did you deal with the water outlet on the back of the head? (Did you just run piping around the exhaust side of the engine up to the rad?)

Distributor is not a problem what so ever!!!

I made my own water jacket out of some 1/4 brass plate, couple hydrolic fittings and a brass drain from the sink (sorry dear gotta have it  )

Did you know that a thermostat will fit snuggly and seal between the brass drain and the collar nut with 2 o-rings??? works slick if you ask me. Even if you don't it still works slick!!!
