rear bumper and rear window juicer removal?

Post by dlb »

hey gang. prepping the terc for painting (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and i can't find any info on here or in the FSM about methods for removing the rear bumper and the little thing that squirts the window cleaner on the rear window.

for the bumper, on the underside of the back end there are a few plugs on the unibody that come out to reveal what looks to be a few 10 mm bolts, but 10mm sockets don't fit through the holes to reach them.

for the juicer, there is a tube within a rubber boot that carries the cleaning solution to the juicer. does that tube undo anywhere, or does the juicer itself come off? if anyone has a better name for this stupid thing, please share it.

haven't decided on paint scheme yet--definitely rock guard on the bottom, but on the top: lime green? gloss black with an offset to the drivers side lime green racing stripe? gloss black with an offset to the drivers side ORANGE stripe? those are what i'm thinking of. i will be putting on the stock roof racks after it's painted though so that might mess with the racing stripe scheme.

I removed my rear bumper to paint it back in '06 and recall it being straightforward with no probs. I recall the bolts as being a lot larger than having 10mm heads, though. Once loosened, it slid right out, albeit awkwardly. Short of other answers - check the body info section in the FSM.
Canna help on the squirter, though. But I'd imagine the headliner has to be removed.

the bumper bolts are inside the car under the carpet
remove rubber plugs
2 on each side
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
