carburator rebild woes

today was was rebuilding my stock carb and apon reassembly i lost the retion spring clip for the large ball under the power pistion is there a sutable replacement for this part or any body know were i can get anouther one because it does not come with a rebuild kit please tell me i dont have to purcace anouther carb for a 50 cent clip

wrecking yards are a good sourse for such parts, especially if you have any of the self-severice ones near you (Pull-a-Part, U-pull-it, etc.). There is also the dealer, but I do not know if they still stock such parts. You might check.

If not, I have a couple of junk carbs I used for just such parts. Where are you? I can mail it to you. PM me.

Also, see if you can post a picture of the carb exploded view to let me know exactly which part you need just to make sure I send you the correct part.

May I humbly reply here that as a fairly newbie member here (to drive home the "humble" part) a Weber will solve all one's T4wd problems, AND get better MPG's I battled the carbs on three of these cars until finally making the plunge, will never go back.

It's by far the best thing anyone can do to these cars.
260K with no end in sight....

i was looking at the webber upgrade but i dont know about my local smog police i would rather have the webber up grade because it apears to be less complex plus the complete upgrase is cheaper the oem.

just went to my local carb shop to see if they had a retainer they didnt but did he said he just uses a paper clip and bends it in to shap i am going to try that. i realy hate to spend 400 -700 doller for a new carburator for something i can fix with a paper clip
