Tercel Inclinometer install

Post by venturavanman »

Hi all, new to the site...Have a 1985 tercel sr5 wagon with 186000 on the clock...Been in the family since new. My question is....I just picked up an incliometer from an 86 tercel and am wondering if it will plug into an exsisting harness in my car..or will I have to splice the wires...any info is welcome. Glad I found this site!!

UPDATE! OK just did a search and found most of the info I need...Looks like I will have to splice it in...

Welcome to the list!

The 86 Tercel sold in North America never had the incliometer on it, it must have come from an '83 or '84. Where did you get it?

if you have the car-end wiring harness that the inclinometer plugs into you will have more room to mess around underneath the dash. also, the colour coding matches up to the appropriate wires you will need to splice into, which saves you having to double check while fiddling with a bunch of difficult-to-reach wires.

do post pics! i did this a while back but neglected to take any photos...my bad.

Thanks all for the welcome...To be honest I was trying to sell my little car a few months ago for a $1000.00 I had a bunch of people interested but when it came down to the money they all tried to low ball me. The best offer was $800.00...This kind of ticked me off so I said heck with this Im keeping this thing...I dont know what the heck got into me...some times I just decide to sell things for no real reason... I began to think about all the cool cars I had over the years (1966 Porsche 912, 1972 Westy VW Bus, Mustang GT) and how I wished I had kept them. Well Im over it now and SOOOO glad I kept the car. My great aunt bought the car new back in 85 and drove it like an old lady, well thats because she was an old lady:) When she passed away the car went to my mom...She drove it a few years and then gave it to me about 10 years ago...In my opinion it is in great shape. It runs the best it ever has right now...just passed CA smog inspection and test(toughest in the country)....Hell I think I might just be burried in this little car when I die... I am glad I found this site and plan to contribute as much as I can...I am very mechanical and am learning alot about these little cars all of wich I will be glad to share....I will post some pics of the install and some of my car when I can get to it....I purchased the Inclinometer off of ebay for $80.00...It looks like it was in perfect working order although I will need to dye or paint it to match my interior. RIDE ON!!

Oh! By the way davidlucasbarns....I really like your post pic..Gotta love cowgirls!!

thanks man. she used to mock my affinity for station wagons but since i put a weber in the car she loves to borrow it. and it's only getting better, too.

the downside of these cars is the low resale value. i'm not sure how much $ i've put in so far but you can bet your balls i wouldn't get anywhere near it if i were to sell it. but that's part of the beauty, since if you keep one in good shape it's because you love it, not because you plan to sell it at a tidy profit. in a sense, tercels promote caring! hoo-ray!

You never know!!! There was a time not s long ago that you could buy a 21 window bus or an older mustang for next to nothing. Im not holding my breath though. I only wish I could throw a weber at my car but the LAME CA smog rules stop me in my tracks...There is somthing cool about keeping it stock too..I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
