I will definitely check the vac lines. I actually broke one off, and I plugged both ends. I doubt the function can be that severe.
I will clean the connections and add dialectric grease to them. I replaced the fuel filter. And when I took off the line that goes to the fuel pump, it leaked maybe a teaspoon. There was barely any gas in the fuel filter. I remember changing my fuel filter on my '83 and it seemed like a quart of gas came shooting out. lol.
I am going to grab a carb and a fuel pump from a junk yard tomorrow. Hopefully I can only pay $20. lol

Yep, i'm an idiot.
Ok, well you know how the cap says "1" "2" "3" "4"? Well, I thought that I was supposed to put the spark plug 1 on "1". Then the spark plug 2 on "3" then the spark plug 3 on "4" and spark plug 4 on "2" because that is the firing order. Well, it turns out Toyota decided to make the distributor cap TOO easy for me. lol. As you may know, each number on the cap corresponds to which spark plug it goes to on the engine. 1 goes to "1" 2 goes to "2" and so on...
I took me several hours and another person to figure this out. Talk about an embarrassing moment...
- Oh yeah, car runs fine now. Makes a funky noise and but at least it runs.

Re: 86 Tercel ignition timing won't start
don't feel bad, bud. i just put my sway bar in upside down, and it's not the first time and probably won't be the last i do something so wack. i'm going to do my driver's side CV right now so maybe i can regale you with some more tales afterward. but let's hope not.
what's the funky noise?
what's the funky noise?
Re: 86 Tercel ignition timing won't start
The funky noise is I think a u-bolt that has come loose on the exhaust and is making a weird vibrating sound. I'm pretty sure thats what it is anyway.
