The vinyl ones can't take engine heat very well. Fuel vapors aren't too good for them either. They are primarily used for keeping dirt out of new parts. I have a handful of them but only use them for capping lines and plugging holes while doing repairs.

I never bothered capping my tvsv as I have no plan to use it again. If I ever get tired of looking at it I will put a pipe plug in it's place.

Splatter helped me install some "webery goodness" and it's like a new car. MPG's have improved by at least 5 MPG (probably more once fully dialed in. I pulled 37MPG at 55MPH with a kayak on top last week) I plan to do a full write up about this, and I know it won't be news to many, but IMHO, there's no other way to go. A weber fixes all fuel delivery problems on our Tercels. Next is front end over-haul.

Splatter stayed up until after midnight with me in his shop ("My Shop") away from his kids and record Mn. heat, charged me peanuts and generally donated his time and skills. I think we settled on the sobering notion that we're the only active Minnesota members here. Salting roads is indeed evil.

My T4WD is replacing my 89 Festiva as a winter car. My festy pulled 40-45MPG all day long, with less room and 2wd. The Tercel has twice the usable space and 4WD for only a small decrease in MPG's. As suspected, once the stock carbs are dealt with, these are the perfect vehicle.

More later, just got back from thousands of Webery miles....:)
