Bouncy Acceleration?

Just recently re-timed my car and when I take off in 1st gear ( 4 speed manual ) I get excellent acceleration with this sort of bounce in my acceleration coming from the tranny? Coming from somewhere? I timed the car out at 10 BTDC with the vac line plugged.. Any ideas what it could be?

could also be clutch chatter, that happens when it is worn funny, or there is oil on it and it causes the first contact to skip. You you have a leaky rear seal?

Motor mounts looks ok but they are a bit oily from previous leaking.. Car doesnt leak any oil now. No spots in the driveway and no smoke..
Neighbor and I went to Venice beach today about 60 miles RT and I started thinking maybe its my driving habits. Releasing the clutch to quickly maybe? Neighbor, she said - " EASY I'm going to get whiplash " LOL

Anyway, speaking of motor mounts - oil and rubber, not a good thing from what I understand? You think spraying those mount rubber cups off with carb cleaner will hurt the rubber? Or, maybe, go with pressure washer at the car wash? I'd like to clean them as much as possible in an effort to clean and preserve the rubber.

No carb cleaner on rubber. If your mounts have been oily for a while just replace them, the damage has probably been done.

motor mounts are on closeout at Rock Auto (you'll need 2)... seems to be the same part for Tercel wagons and hatchbacks, but check your year/make/model just to be sure

Also get the transmission mount - do a Search here for the right part number - there are differences between 2WD and 4WD.

you can clean the oil off with detergent and hot water. If the mounts is still bonded I would say it is okay. It usually takes a long time of oil soaking before they have problems, but it depends on they type of oil. AFT for example will melt away most rubber.

Your issue could be driving style. learn to clutch properly and you will have longer clutch life, and fewer complaints from passengers.

about a hundred years ago when I was learning how to drive, the instructor had us sitting on level ground with the car idling, right foot tucked up against the seat base. Slowly let the clutch out and get the car rolling. If you couldn't get the car rolling without stalling it, you weren't allowed to take the test.
Worked like a charm, lets you figure out exactly where the friction point is and get a good feel for the proper rate of release, once that was mastered you were allowed to use a little gas to speed the transition but you could not rev it more than about 2000 rpm or you would get a slap up the side of the head.
Like I said, it was a long time ago when corporal punishment was in abundance.
That said, short of the abuse, it was an effective way to figure out how to use the clutch.
shouldn't take more than about 5 mins to sort it all out and you will be able to drive like an old shoe in no time at all.
Practice makes perfect.
Hammering on the car and dumping the clutch is excessively hard on the car and will not only destroy the clutch in record time but lots of other things down line from the clutch, like trannies, diffs,mounts, axles, tires.....
do yourself a favour and learn proper clutch operation, everyone (including the car) will thank you for it. You should be able to change gears smoother than an auto if you are doing it right.
