Don't scare me like that!

Post by RiggerRob »

Hey, Everybody,

I noticed that you guys were off line for a bit. I just got a 'new' Tercel 4WD and was looking forward to getting back on the site and sharing pictures and wisdom about my ride. It seems like your domain server was down all of last week and it kind of freaked me out a bit.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are back, and I look forward to uploading pics of my 'new' 84! :D

Cheers, Rob

Welcome!
Do they use salt in your neck of the woods? I don't think we've had a member from your state - I thought they expired from the tin worm, as most did here in MO and points North and North East.

I noticed they were offline too.. I wondered what had happened? Anyone know? I kept getting directed to one of those generic spam advertising sights with a picture of a college girl holding some books.. I thought maybe someone hacked the sight..

Glad the site is back.

Yeah, they use lots of salt here, but there's a few of them around. The horrid winter we had destroyed first gear in the tranny on my '86 FWD (see my avatar), so I just scored this '84 4WD beauty for $500.00 and am airing it out (it sat for a long time and has got the mildew blues). I'll have more pictures up later - it runs like a bat out of hell and has cold blowing AC!

That, in fact, is the original factory equipped hood ornament for this year and model...

Must be a dealer-installed mascot.

Some little known history of the T4WD....

The Tercel was also imported into Tibet....but here it was known as the Pterodactyl.

I have one of the original Tibetan imported Pterodactyls that has been "blessed" by the Dalai Lama.

This was the "spoonbill" variation of the pterodactyl....

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and I make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas.
A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
