i was freaking out for the last two days because every time i went to tercel4wd.com i got some girl at a university and a bunch of bullsh*t links! thank heavens this resource is not lost!
the reason i was in such a hurry to get back on here is to ask if anyone knows if all tercels have the necessary wiring for the clinometer built into them. i found a clinometer in an older (82 or 83 i think) terc at the local scrapyard, and pulled it out. i found that the clinometer plugs into a wire harness that disappears up into a huge bundle of wires around the firewall area, and worry that my terc (an 85) might not have that same wire harness. has anyone ever put one into a terc that has not come stock with a clinometer? i can go back and get the connection if necessary but thought i would ask here first.
thanks!
INclinometer installation?
Re: clinometer installation?
Don't know...but all you need is a feed from the parking lights and one from the 4WD switch on the trans...so you could wire it up yourself.

oh man, i thank you for your kind words but i'm afraid i have absolutely zero experience with that kind of thing. i know the plug that i left on the car at the scrapyard had four wires going to it, are you saying i should get that plug and splice it in? how will i know which are park brake lights etc.?

David -
Perform a Search here - there are a number of threads and how-to's on this installation. Did you grab the bracket as well? I'd go back and grab the plug as well.
Welcome to the CLub - I saw your thread over at http://www.tercelonline.com during the "hiatus."

Re: clinometer installation?
the european SR5 models retained the clionmeter on the '85 and later Tercel4wd, I say there is a good chance the wire bundle you need will be there, but you may need to splice in the plug. It has been done before, so you should be able to install it.
Good luck.

Re: clinometer installation?
thanks guys, i always appreciate your help! i searched through several areas of the forum but can't find anyone's experiences putting this in, just peeps selling them and finding pics of them. most people i've talked to are confident the connection should be in there though, and i have to pull the dash of my beast apart to put in my new heater controls anyway so i'll take a look for it then. if it isn't there than i'll go back and get the plug and figure out how to splice it in.

I used "inclinometer" for the Search word, as that is its name...

Re: clinometer installation?
got the inclinometer in last weekend, it's so insanely awesome. took a little time but wasn't actually that difficult. i followed gtssportscoupe's directions for the most part:
https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php? ... eter#p7829
the only thing i did differently was that i took the receiving end of the inclinometer plug from the parts car as well and wired that in just so i wouldn't have to re-splice any wires if i ever need to take the inclinometer out and back in again. the colours of the wires on the inclinometer's receiving plug match the colours of the wires they get spliced into, which made wiring it up pretty foolproof.
also, i had no trouble drilling the dash with it still mounted in the car. i just lined the inclinometer up with the air vents and heater controls and eyeballed the height and angle it was going in on. i took the inclinometer off the dash and the bolts that mount it left impressions where they were sitting so i marked them with a pen and drilled through with a 5/8 size bit (i think that was the size). i then used a round file to clean up the holes, and the inclinometer fit in perfectly! it's a ridiculous little toy but it's soooooo dope.
