I got my hands on an Echo motor...

Does anyone know if the echo 1.5L VVT-i will bolt up to the tercel trans without an adaptor? The echo is more/less totalled from the rear (perfect donor). I know I've asked this question elsewhere indirectly but can't remember the exact answer. Thanks, Brenton

No dice on the 1NZ-FE motor. It isn't compatible with transmission or the fuel system.

Way too much work to even try.

That is a nice modern engine with EFI, 16-valve head, and a distributorless ignition (all the things I want for my Tercel4wd!), but it is a completely new design, and I thought I read that it is made in Korea by Hundai for Toyota. The Echo replaced the Tercel as their entry level car. A nice engine, but not worth the effort, there are other engines that are easier to adapt that have these features.

I got to look at one out of the car @ Toyota of lake City. Defiantly No Dice.

Nice compact little engine, but no way to make it work with any A series compatible trans. The oil pan would sit where our front dif. is. Custom bottom end and transmission plate adapter.... Way too much work.

It is a cute little engine though.
