'87 in Denver-$300
Found an '87 in Denver -the guy wants $300 , says its got engine problems. He wants to get rid of it and says if he doesn't get anyone to takeit it'll go to the yard. Should I try to grab it at $100? local yards will give you $50 for just about anything, but they don't budge upward much from there. What says the list??? (I already have three 1/2, and I'm not sure the wife would appreciate it what with all the other projects).

It sounds like you could get that for the headlights on an '87.
If it's got a good body I say get it, because the yard is just going to trash it. If the body is toast and you don't need the parts, the wrecking yard will probably pull the engine, trans and rear axle and others can get what they need from it before it goes to the crusher (but with a car that old it may go straight there).
It seems like good body and good trans are the reasons to keep these cars from the crusher. Everything else can be found relatively cheaply still.

I would get it just for a good body, I hate doing body work (too time consuming to do well). The '87/88 years are the most refined of them all, had all the problems worked out and had the best equipment, gear ratios, seats, etc. Save it! If the body is rusty and the tranny shot, see if you can buy the drivers side head light housing for me!!!
Someone on the list will get it from you I am sure.

Hey, I'm glad you talked to him, I tried several times, got no response.

Finally got hold of him, Tranny pops out of first, engine leaks oil (That's the engine problem
) 200 k miles, hatch has been bumped, NO rust (supposedly). I'll have a chance to look at it on Thursday, oops scratch that, Friday. he just wants rid of it. I'm thinking of buying it sight unseen (But that's usually a no-no
) The wife agrees that its a good price even if it is just for the parts- and I think its more than just parts
