So what are the tolerances for the crank journals? + or - 1/16th"?

I guess these big ships run on bunker oil...which is some unrefined sludge kind of stuff...a big source of CO2 and pollution.

You can see why they'd want to separate the cylinders from the crank as far the lube oil used.

I've camped on a ship channel down in Brownsville TX when some of the larger ships came thru...some of them totally vibrate the air as they go by...and they were just idling along....and probably weren't that big a ship.
