Crack In Frame HELP!

Post by tercelwill »

My 85 has a crack in the unibody on the passenger side right in the wheel well close to the control arm. I can't drive over thirty miles an hour with the whole car shaking like the right wheel is about to break off.
I took it to a body shop and they did a partial patch with sheet metal. two days later the sheet metal patch ripped down the middle on the interstate. The shop said there is likely another defect in the frame and the metal is to fatigued to be repairable.

To add insult to injury the shop offered me two hundred bucks to let them turn my beautiful tercel into scrap metal. I'm not gonna give up on my tercel that easy if anyone knows or has experience with this please let me know what my options are

Might help a bit. I think keith's finally passed, although I do not rcall whether from this cause or another.

A couple years ago, a friend of mine's T4WD had this problem... after spending a bunch of time and money he finally gave up on it, and it's now a glorious parts car :(

It could have been that, but considering the big gash in one of the rear tires, I think it was the tire, but the area I had repaired was damaged in the accident so I can't say for sure.
