restoration of doors external weatherstrip/belt moulding
I have a 1988 wagon. The weatherstrip/belt moulding that runs along the outside of the left front window glass needed to be replaced. Then weatherstrip has a metal insert which serves to provide rigidity when installed in the clips. The used parts I have acquired have been found to have inserts that are rusted. I have cleaned the rubber and now need to find something that can be inserted and run the length of the moulding to restore the rigidity. I have tried plastic strapping but what I found is less than ideal. Does anyone out there have any ideas or perhaps a remedy that has worked for them.

There is a stainless steel strip in many brands of wiper blade refills, if you have an old one worn out blade, you can try the metal off of it to put in the window strip. This strip on the side windows works in a way as the windshield wiper blades.
