New Fuel Tank Availability

Post by ARCHINSTL »

As a point of information - both AutoZone and Advance (and I would suppose NAPA, O'Reilly, et al) have new tanks for both 2WD and 4WD Wagons. The 4WD at AZ is $295 and at ADV it is $242 (!). The 2WD is a LOT cheaper, and is the same tank as the sedans.
I was surprised that they were available; it would seem like a very low-demand item The brand is Spectra and the model is TO1A.

Funny I randomly checked Schucks, now Oreily's, and they didn't list a replacement. Good to know that some parts that might begin to rust out after 25 years are available.

I wonder if it's an oem spec. metal tank or a plastic unit

I put a new tank in my 85 about 8 years back. Got the tank from the dealer, I don't think they where available aftermarket at the time. The fill spout was a little different, didn't have a drain and didn't quite fit like the original.
