Hey Guys, Congrats on such a great forum!
Now that we have a decent size online community has anyone thought of putting an "official" email through to Toyota in japan to say thanks/ask them questions/see when they are going to make a "retro" version of these cars/ get some more shots etc. there could be engineers/designers there who worked on the Tercel back in the 80's. It would be great to hear from them.. I'm sure they'd have a PR agency! who'd be interested.

I think thats a good idear! They're be suprised, like, people still drive those things? lol - i just don't know how to go about doing that. I don't talk japanese
Hmm maybe on toyota.com there's some contact info. What are some questions, etc, that some of us on the forums would want to put on the letter? Then someone can come and compile it all together and send it in to toyota

Hate to break it to you guys, but I've seen this tried before with far more popular Toyota's (such as the now legendary AE86 Levin/Trueno). Multiple groups and even some together have written letters and had 100s or even 1000s of people sign/participate. It seems that everything falls on dead ears. We are usually lucky if we get any sort of response at all. Toyota doesn't seem to give a sh*t about the awesome cars they made during the 80s and early/mid 90s. They are focusing their marketing through branches like 'Scion'. The cars produced by 'Scion' are what Toyota thinks the young generation and car enthusiast are looking for.
I think the best we could hope for is a retro version of the Landcruiser FJ40: http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/
It pisses me off and makes me sad. Toyota doesn't even have any sports cars in production right now. They stopped making even the Celica and MRS. Although there are rumors and spy photos of a new Supra. I don't know what happened to the Toyota of the 80's.

The old messages almost never reach the head ppl at toyota. This is the same no matter what company you go with, no matter what you have to tell them. Just the way it goes i guess. Whatever happened to the person who made the main designs for the older 80's style toyotas? It'd be interesting to have him on this forum lol
