Pistons..... hmmmm

Has anyone ever compared the 3a pistons with 1ZZFE pistons? I know the 1z's are 1.5 mm bigger but if the rest of the dimensions are there...... hmmmmm

You've compared wrist pin size and clearance, skirt height, and so-on?
1.5mm larger huh? Well, thats a thought. So is picking up a 4AC block from a yard.

I dunno if anyone has found the limits of the stock pistons yet. And we've at least in the past had boosted Terc's on here, Tercs running nitrous, high revvers.... I dunno.

However, if maybe they were lighter that might be a cool idea.

Haven"t done a side by side comparison, yet anyway. Since my newly aquired 87 needs a rebuild, I've been checkin options. :D

Gotcha. You could always try and find a 4 series block. 7-rib if you can.

Well, I have a silver top 20v. Complete with harness and everything, but that is destined for a new life in my 97 Paseo.... hehehe  . I've found almost everything to rebuild the engine. NEW: pistons, rods, bearings, rings, 20v oil pump (higher volume- due to vvt system), valve springs, and all gaskets. Done a lil searching but haven't found new valves yet, any suggestions? So far in parts I've spent only $480.30, not too bad for completely goin over it. I'll check the valves once i get it all apart, may be able to make do with a cleanup.

Just get that head well cleaned up. I'd try for a copper head gasket personally. Keep it well sealed. The more metal you take off, the more it flexes, the worse it seals.
