Easy fix. you can take the sender out (an access hatch is under the rear carpet), and clean the contacts, bend the contact arm to make better contacts to the wire, and put it all back. It usually works. Or get another one from a wrecking yard and swap them out.

Re: Testing Low Fuel Warning Light
hberdan- I tried changing the fuel sender from the base '83 that worked fine in it when I got hit in Boulder Canyon into the 'new' '85 that had wierdness, it didn't help at all. The problem doesn't seem to lie with the sender, but with the grounding of the gauge cluster. I haven't had the time to try anything, since its such a minor inconvenience and I've got so many other projects.
Thanks for the link, Tom. A worn arm might explain a lot, I've also got some contact cleaner which is incredible, so i"ll try that as well when I get to this.
I was wondering when I'd actually find some other T4WD owners form the Boulder area here, considering how many I see around. There are at least 5 (not counting my 3) in Nederland, but none have shown up here yet even though I try. The Ned cops know me as the Toyota guy ever since I had them check a VIN for me and told them how many I have. They don't give me any grief, even when I'm way over the limit (speed, that is, not alcohol).
PM me and we can yak offline if you want.
