The UK changes lanes...?

Post by takza »

Recently Britain's Parliament faced a difficult choice. On the European continent drivers use the right lanes, while the English remained on the left. But tunnels and fast ferries were bringing cars and drivers back and forth ever more frequently.

Liberals in Parliament thought it time to change lanes. Conservatives resisted; after all, Brits had been driving on the left since William the Conquerer's chariot.

Parliament's compromise was to move from the left to right lanes -- but incrementally, on a voluntary basis. Truckers first.
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

The question is, why does half the world still drive on the wrong side of the road?

Something about keeping the sword arm free, ain't it? Or was it keeping the hoist-a-pint arm free?

Believe it or NOT ...
long time ago my father said (Vanouver, British Colunbia ) used to had driving on Left lanes then change it to Right side ??? so I check all the history book with pictures , yep he was right , back then since way back 1890 (horses with carriage) and continue till mid 20's change to Right lane because lots of tourist from USA and eastern Canada got into lots of bad accdents in B.C. , guess B.C. follow British way .
