Aftermarket T4WD AC - New BIG Photo !

Post by ARCHINSTL »

I have discovered how to add AC to Goldie! It ain't as compact as OE - but the system is available at my nearest Home Depot. Wonder if any of Leno's cars have this?

How serendipitous, there's a beige SUV in the background... perhaps a shade off or two from Goldie? But hey, this beats having to spend big bucks on an aftermarket A/C, the only thing is that it is too conspicuous...

I wonder if the Tercel's door structure will handle the added weight?

But think about how many useless accessories you'll be able to run off the generator besides that bulky A/C.

You can eliminate your alternator with a generator like that!

With a long enough extension cord you could also eliminate the auxiliary generator, though it might limit the range over which you could have the A/C working.

Lets see, a generator like that is about $400 or more, and the window mounted A/C is about $200 for about $600 total, with the effort to mount and installed itall (unless you buy these items at a garage sale or something). Seems a factory A/C from a wrecking yard would be cheaper, and less obnoxious.

A wet towel hanging in the window is cheaper.

Actually - and I am not kidding here...
The T-Wagon has what I consider the best interior airflow of any car I've ever owned, and that includes a number with the late and lamented no-draft windows (you young pups do a Wiki-search for that term).
I just roll both DS windows down and leave the PS windows up. Voila - great breezes with no ruffling of the 'do! And no road dirt or bugs enter.
Now Missouri ain't New Mexico, but it does get hot and quite humid. And I rarely am accompanied by anyone.
But at highway speeds I am pretty comfortable, and even in town/traffic jams it is really not bad.
But I'm certain mine is not an original method amongst us.

P.S. To Petros... Hmmm - the generator could fit in the luggage area and pipe the exhaust through the floor and then run thick cables to the big electric motor under the hood and - Instant Hybrid! Interesting - I'll bet someone, somewhere, has done just this...
