Air not blowing through vents.

Post by rhino »

Hi, I have a 1986 toyota tercel 4wd sr5 wagon. Just recently the air is not blowing from the vents. I tried cold and hot, with AC and with out AC, as well as the different settings such as face, floor, bi-level, defrost and nothing seems to work. The radiator fan comes on. Any suggestions on what could be the issue.

Thanks,

two things come to mind. I presume you can hear the fan running..

first slide the seats back and crawl under the dash and try and trace the control cables from your heater levers. It sounds like the cable on the duct controls may have slipped off the lever (at either end). You can also remove the panel from the center console and take a look at it. If the flaps or blend door does not move, you could get this to occur. While you are at it, you might verify that none of the ducts have not slipped off their manifold.

The other would be there could be a large mouse nest in the ducts. This happens to our cars if we let them sit for very long, depending on the time of the year. I am always cleaning out mouse nest from the air cleaner housing, heater ducts, etc.

Good luck.
