under dash wiring issues

Post by SethM »

My new (to me) 85 T4WD has some odd electrical issues: The digital clock, radio, and cigarette lighter are not working. All fuses appear to be good (at the interior panel on the driver's side). I read somewhere on this forum (after a search) that the lighter and radio problems often indicate a wiring problem under the dash. Anything more specific to look for? Other items on that fuse panel such as the wipers and ignition work fine. Fan blower works fine.

Look at the last two pages of the FSM; the clock, radio, and lighter are shown. They are kinda related (?).
These are wiring diagrams, which have always looked like a plate of vermicelli to me, but they may help you. Sorry that I do not have anecdotal experience to share.

Great description-- vermicelli.... I think wiring diagrams must divide the human race into two camps, those that can understand them and those that see them as vermicelli. Sadly, I am in the latter camp. But I'll try hard to focus this time and see what I can learn from said pages....
