A funny thing about Clutch Cables
If you are looking for a clutch cable, and the guy's at the spares store tells you they don't make one, get the cable for the Toyota Lexcen. (It's also a commodore). It's a bit of a fiddle to fit it in, but it's the same length, the ends are the same and it works. Just but one in my 1987 SR5 Tercel and it works a treat!

Welcome to the Club!
Alas, the info about the clutch cable will (apparently) be useful to AU,NZ, and SWST Pacific owners only, as the Commodore/Lexcen was sold only in your area.
31340-16110 is the North American part number, and Butler Toy in Indy has it available for $45 USD.

Re: A funny thing about Clutch Cables
G'day Philbo,
I think the routing of the RHD Terc wagons is a little convoluted so they do seem to be a pretty regularly changed part. I got a genuine Toyota one 2 years ago in Melbourne for about $60 or so but it wasn't to much of a pain to put in by myself. What did you have to do to the commo cable to make it fit? as I'm sure they are a bit cheaper.
I try and lube mine once in a blue moon as the cables sure like to make a bit of noise. I'd defiantly take a spare one for my future around Australia trip. Catch ya around.

Re: A funny thing about Clutch Cables
You have to fule a little bit of rubber off the collar so it fits through that weird hole in the bell housing. Only about one or two mm though. I Know I could have imported one, but it was something that i needed NOW to get the car running. I didn't want to wait for shipping and have the car off the road for a week or so. Also, by the time i canverted most of the E-bay listings int AUS$ and added shipping, it was only going to save me around $5-10. Just thought i'd let every one in Australia and New Zealand know, it moght just get you out of a pickle one day!
