I know they make these for quite a few new cars.
Does anyone know of a company that makes a rear end tent/canopy for the tercel? I have snaps (like button thingies) all around my car, and I know they're custom. I'm just wondering if they were part of some tent/canopy contraption.
It'd be amazing if I could find one, since I already sleep in the back of my tercel when I'm sleeping. It's a pretty comfy time with a million blankets.
Tent/thing that attaches to the tercel rear?

I have never seen or heard of one but I would try to get the one that was made for the Pontiac AZTEK. Seems like it would fit. Good Luck

I beleive the product your looking for is made by Bumperchutes in Seattle Wa.
They no longer make them for the retail market, now solely for Police, Medics and federal agencies. We screen print their logos for the light trucks and SUVs models at my work. Mostly police tailgate units. I can't even get a complete one with my ties to them. Back in the early 80's they even sold them through REI for custom instillation. I beleive the 80's Subie wagons use the same one as our tecels.
Another possibility for the snaps might be this set up which I use currently. Sorry no pics with my tercel yet.

The Aztek has a tail gate which would not work with our vehicles, plus it's a fair bit wider.jetswim wrote:I have never seen or heard of one but I would try to get the one that was made for the Pontiac AZTEK. Seems like it would fit. Good Luck

There are snaps all over my car..it's pretty random. It's definitely a custom job. But the old people that owned the car for the majority of its life have passed on.

Any small upholstery shop or boat cover maker can make you one, but it would not be cheap. If you can use a sewing machine, it would not be hard to make one yourself.
A blue tarp and bungie cords would also do in a pinch, and much cheaper. With a little effort you can cut the blue tarp to fit, and use two-sided duct tape for the seams to make a "custom" fit blue tarp. A good thing to try before you pay the big bucks for a custom sewn rear 'tent'.
