Offering $50 for a t4wd splash deflector!

Just tired of looking for them on endless JY crawls. So some one, some where, on this board will have or come across one and make some coin.

Further clarifications:

A splash deflector is the plastic splash guard thing that is below and forward of the engine. It bolts to the underside of the rad support in front with 2 8mm bolts on the sides to the unibody w/2 6mm bolts and then the back of it fastens to the front of the engine supporting cross member with 2 more 8mm bolts.

It needs to be in good shape.

I need it to fit my '85 t4wd, so please unless you are really sure that another year will do the job (I suspect that this is so... but am not sure), It might be best to stick with an '85 part.

I will also pay actual shipping charges, up to $20, on top of the $50US I am offering. Shipping will be to the 95076 zip code in the US.

No, the '83-'84 splash deflectors that I have seen in the US are a thick plastic much like the resin chairs. From '85 up they seem to be a thinner polyethylene. Metal up front and below the tranny would be nice.

70 bucks? Well it might actually be cost effective to have a friend or someone who knows metal to just make one. Metal prices have come down, so for 70 bucks it'd be a pretty easy thing to make. If I'm not mistaken, it's no more than 3 bends in the metal.

I recently purchased a 4x8 "plastic" panel from Home Depot with the thought of making one, as Goldie's is missing. I searched both the online sites of both HD and Lowes for a correct description of this panel to no avail - sorry.
It is white, about 2+mm thick, and is kinda flexible - not quite like Tupperware, but not as stiff as that black lawn edging with the tubular top. Wish I could be more descriptive.
I do not even recall the regular price; as this panel had a broken corner, I offered the manager $5, which he accepted.
I found it in the area where wall panels are sold, so I'd imagine most home supply stores sell it. I think it is used to cover areas which may get wet, but am not sure. It is smooth on one side and lightly stippled on the other.
I do not think it is as stiff as the one on my '83, but I think it will serve the purpose. Even if not quite flexible enough, I'm sure it can be persuaded into shape with careful use of a heat gun.
The next time I'm at HD, I'll try to check further.

I have one, but it took me a while to find and im installing it on mine, BUT if you want i can take some pictures of it and measure up some dimentions incase you want to make one of your own? They are a thick plastic but their durable, they DO take hits almost as strong as the thin sheet metal fenders but they bend back.

I may have a spare one kicking around in my garage, you are welcome to it if you want it. it is from an '83, as I recall it is in fair shape, but has it's share of road rash. I will look for it this week and post a picture of it here for you if I indeed still have it.

I think I even have two in my garage, one is from my '84 that I am driving now that I have never bothered to reinstall. I should because I live on a gravel road, and it gets up inside the engine compartment occasionally. I have seen small pieces of gravel occasional get caught in and cut my fan belt. I keep meaning to reinstall it, but have not for several years now.

Other than gravel I can not see how it will provide much protection, it does not look very durable as a skid plate. It is more like a splash guard and I am not sure how important it is. I find it a nuisance every time I have to work on my car, one of the reasons I have not reinstalled it.

I have seen optional metal skid plates that go under the transmission on Tercel4wdrules' car, I did not even know there was a factory skid plate, but again it did not look very durable for serious off road use, it is more like a guard than a skid plate.

Petros- I think that its more effective as an air deflector to lower the air pressure behind the radiator to get more flow at speed. That being said, while I had mine off, I noticed a considerable amount of gravel (yes, I too live on a gravel road) and mud splashed up onto the engine as far up as the alternator! I reinstalled it soon after noticing this.
4wdchico, I have an extra one, but its not in terribly good shape some of the holes are torn, etc. I'm sure anyone's is better. .. If you can't get one elsewhere, mine is yours for shipping (the wife would be glad to see something LEAVE for a change).
