Stereo Installation
I BARELY remember the NES... Not its release, that was 2 years earlier than me. I do however remember getting the gen 1 SNES. One of the many VERY fragmented memories from being 3 or 4 years old.... http://www.classicgaming.com/museum/nes/
However I do remember the PS1 and N64 advertising campaigns... Really odd. Heh.

Lol. I thought it was along the lines of- WE WALKED TO SCHOOL IN A WHITE-OUT BLIZZARD IN NOTHING BUT BARBED WIRE FOR SHOES, UPHILL BOTH WAYS, WITH DOGS CHASING US... AND WE LIKED IT! I've actually heard that, jokingly, a few times. heh.
If anyone here can say they remember the invention of the automobile, I think we'll all be pretty beat.

Well -
G. Daimler was not a peer - but - and this still blows my mind - my late Mother was born the year the Wright brothers first flew - and she met Amelia Earhart as a 20-something - and she was in downtown STL for Lindbergh's Great Parade in 1927. She didn't have me until quite late in life, which was unusual for her generation (else I could be pushing 85 instead of ___). She was 95 when she passed.

I'm heading into the first year of my second half-century now, and it's amazing how many "innovations" i can remember that my kids have never lived without. My grandfather was born, not in the 20th century, but in the 19th century ( he's been gone 23yrs). It's odd how things in history seem so far back in time, but real connections to those times aren't all that far off in the past. I got married the year Toyota started making the Tercel 4WD Wagon !!

1984 Tercel 4wd Dlx. - 192K miles.
1985 Tercel 4wd SR5 - 185K miles (not running)
1986 Tercel 4wd Dlx - 210K miles (dd)
Only 3 to go for the whole set ! lol

My folks got married in 81. So they saw the first year of the Tercel, let alone the Tercel Wagon! Though they did get married relatively young. Maybe a week after my mom had graduated, lol. 18 and 19, mom and dad respectively.
I have VEEEEEEEEEEERRRRY vague memories of my great-grandma and great-grandpa, dads side. 1890 and 1892 if I remember right.... Great-Grandpa served in the first and second big ones. Can't remember what he did in the 2nd.... Might've been a desk job. He passed when I was maybe 7 or 8. Maybe younger.

I can't help with the wiring on yours, but I'd suggest running the switched and constant power directly to the fusebox, and then figure out the speaker wiring.
I'm not using any of the stock wiring any more. I recently replaced my last set of speaker wires with 15 gauge braided Fosgate wire, and ran braided Fosgate RCA cables. I have a Hafler MSE-88tn amp mounted under the driver's seat running 4 channels, and I mounted a set of DLS R4 mids in the stock dash locations with the tweeters mounted in the vents. I had a pair of Aura MR52 Braxial speakers in the back, but somebody wanted them worse than I did, so I sold them this week. I need to order another pair of those.
Now to work out the mounting for the 6.5" mids I'm going to run to complete my front stage, mount another amp (under the passenger seat) to drive it, and get a box built for the new Aura subwoofer I finally settled on. I think I've finally settled on all the details.

Re: Stereo Installation
I got a question that's more structure of installation than wiring. (I redid all the wiring, so that's all good, and it fires up nicely).
I'm trying to put in a one-din Pioneer unit in my 85 wagon. The old stereo was one of those two-post junkers, an aftermarket tape deck from the 80s sometime. That meant the old plastic install kit didn't work at all, because it assumed the deck was held in by the two posts. There's nothing under the dash or anywhere else to bolt things on to.
There's no way to hold the deck into the dash, so I bought the installation kit from Best Buy but it doesn't do anything. There's no way for the Best Buy kit to hold the deck in the dash either. All it does is provide a pocket storage area to cover the empty space since it's a two-din hole with a one-din stereo.
Now, I've got a stereo deck and a storage compartment, but no way to bolt them in. Did the last installer (previous owner) throw away brackets or something? Anyone know if I can adapt this thing to do the job?

Re: Stereo Installation
You should have two sheet metal brackets that connect to the side of that radio, that let you screw it to the black metal frame. They look similar to the ones on this PDF: http://installdr.com/TechDocs/999015.pdfmiyagi-san wrote:I got a question that's more structure of installation than wiring. So it sounds like you are missing those brackets.
