Re: '83 SR5 eBay Mesa, AZ
I ordered an Experian AutoCheck on that car and it noted an accident in July that the owner claims didn't happen. Who's kidding who? The owner? The police report? Hmmmm.
The listing also claims that it is an Arizona car. Well, that is partially correct. It spent its first 15 years and 79,000 miles in Kentucky. I DESPISE misleading listings. Do sellers think that the world is full of dummies who believe everything they read? Hmmmmm.
The seller has owned the car for only the last 3,000 miles. Which means that it was towed behind a motorhome for just a short period of time. The other 129k miles were driven for sure.
Also, I really wish people wouldn't use ArmorAll to shine dashboards and such. It just makes a sticky mess.
Other than those items, I guess it is an OK car.
Cheers!

Im with you 100% Ron B.
When i went to pick up my terc the guy tried passing it off as it just needinng a new Rad and waterpump randomly at the same time, i inspected the frame finding it had hit the bottom bed of a truck, (trailer hitch pierced the grille and rad)
..thank god for VIN checks...

Interesting comments -
I sent the seller my usual request to tell the winner about the Club, and to post the info on the ad for other interested prospects (he didn't, but that is not unusual); here is his answer:
"Hi Tom, I have checked out your forum frequently, and it has been quite informative. Really liked the road tests.... I bought this originally to take back to Colorado (saw many back there when we lived in Fort Collins - like one of your members I noticed.. But the transfer did not happen. I will pass on your link to the buyer. Thanks!"
His response seemed quite innocuous - caveat emptor, huh? It's up to $1700, with 4+days to go...

Re: '83 SR5 eBay Mesa, AZ
These are the verbatim messages sent to the seller from me and to me from the seller....
From me:
"Dear tiniree, There is history of an accident on 07/26/2008....What kind of accident was this car involved in? - 64spyderman"
From the seller:
"Dear 64spyderman, I have owned this vehicle since 2007, it has not been in any accidents. In fact it has been parked in my garage since May of 2008. Pls forward me the information. - tiniree"
My reply:
"Dear tiniree,
Hi, Thanks for the reply...Please reply directly to my email address, ************@roadrunner.com so I can send you the attachment directly to you.....What percentage of the 131k miles would you say is towed as opposed to driven miles?...Ron B. - 64spyderman"
----------------------------------------------
I haven't heard from the seller since that last message to him. How about I give him the benefit of the doubt and suppose that he is too busy to answer me?
I also see that he has a positive feedback rating of 0% as a seller. That does not give me too much confidence. "Caveat emptor" indeed.
Cheers!

Must be the first item he has tried to sell, he has no feedback as a seller but 100% positive as a buyer.Ron B. wrote:These are the verbatim messages sent to the seller from me and to me from the seller....

Re: '83 SR5 eBay Mesa, AZ
As the owner of this car, I feel I must reply to Ron B.... The vehicle is as I stated, accident free. My wife and I were involved in a accident in another vehicle belonging to us in July 08. I checked with State Farm, somehow the VINs were transposed by our EX-agent. State Farm has agreed to provide a document stating the vehicle has been involved in no accidents while in my ownership. I was unaware of this problem until the bidder pointed it out to me.
As to it being an AZ car, it has been in the state since at least 1995, as there is a sticker in the doorsill for an LOF in June of that year in Casa Grande, AZ @ 75k miles. As to it orginally being from Kentucky, you are correct as I located the original window sticker for the car showing the selling dealer (along with the owner's manuals.) Maybe the owner spent time between both states as do many snowbirds here. As it has no rust anywhere, it must have spent the majority of it's life here....
It is a completely original car, the miles are correct as stated. I take offense that someone would question my integrity... BTW, the new buyer is picking up the car this Saturday, they reside in a mountain community. I am sure they will enjoy it for many years to come.
FYI Ron, I do not use Armour All- it was 78 degrees and quite sunny here a few weeks ago here in AZ, you are seeing the glare. I do not use cheap tricks or falsehoods to sell a vehicle. Also it is quite evident that it was driven the other 129k miles, I did not claim otherwise contrary to your posting....

Re: '83 SR5 eBay Mesa, AZ
exterc, I find it very interesting that you waited until the auction was over before you replied. Why didn't you reply to my Dec 4 message through eBay?
You may have not used ArmourAll but there is something causing the shine....not glare...SHINE!
Also, about your "integrity", since you have a 0% positive feedback rating, and since you didn't reply to my message, as far as I am concerned, you shouldn't want to discuss it.
Anyway, congratulations on selling your car.
Cheers!
