Re: 4wd tercel parts
I have a tranny I saved that gave up, it was stuck in second and managed to get it home that way. It might have a good 5th in it, but it was making a lot of really bad noises as I drove it the 40 miles back home in second. I could pull it apart and see if anything is usable.
I suggest finding a newer working trans from a wrecking yard If your 5th went out, the others are not too far behind I suspect. Replacing the whole trans would be less troublesome.
Good luck

Re: 4wd tercel parts
How bad is your fifth gear?
I had trouble with getting into first as the change was way to notchy on this car and replaced the gearbox oil with some good Synthetic and it feels like a new box and gets better with age! If it's not to bad is it worth trying a couple of flushes and then some synth?

Somebody claimed that, but you don't hear a lot about it on this forum.gearman05 wrote:hi every one, parts for these manual trannys are are to find, have one in the shop with a bad 5th gear,i hear that its not that uncommon for these to lose 5th. so any help is great . thankyou tim.
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

Re: 4wd tercel parts
It happened to me. Its not uncommon with transmission where the 5th gear is external to the rest of the gearset. This was common in the 80's and early 90's as older model 4 speeds were converted to 5 speeds. In this case, the fifth gear cluster is in the compartment forward of the main gearset.
