Hello from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA! Just here trying to learn about 4wd tercels. I have a 92 Paseo and a 89 Corolla GTS currently, and have had a 91 Tercel, and another 92 Paseo.

Welcome to the club, even though you dont have a 4wd tercel, the 89 corolla shares quite a bit with our car.

welcome to the club. looks like you have a couple of parts cars that are perfect for improving the 4wd tercel. First you take the EFI 4age engine out of your GTS and find a good Tercel 4wd to put it in, and then take the vented front disk brakes off the Paseo and also put them on the Tercel 4wd. The rear axle on the GTS with the heavier anti-sway bar and disk brakes should also be an easy swap over to the Tercel 4wd. With some gas fill struts, a good cusom exhaust, custom wheels and tires, and you will have the ideal Tercel 4wd. What Toyota should have been selling from the begining. Of course then the Tercel might be worth about a third of what the GTS is worth now.
Many people like the Tercel 4wd just the way it is too, but it is rather underpowered, and the brakes are too flimsy, and the suspention a bit soft and mushy. Unfortuantly the stock engine does not lend itself to a lot of tweaking, and there is that troublesome emission controlled carb on it. Fortuantly the front brakes and the suspention are an easy upgrade.
How are you planning to correct the problem that you do not own a Tercel 4wd now?
Just teasing. Welcome again.

Re: New member from Cincinnati, Ohio
I have been looking! Mostly craigslist and some ebay, but none really close to Cincy. The closest I'd found is someone parting out one in Toledo, and he didn't want to sell the whole car (this I don't understand). If anyone knows of one, or any other T4WD enthusiasts in the area, lmk.
I've done some mods on the Tercels/Paseos that could either be directly applicable, or modified slightly to work on the T4WD.
(the following have a good bit of pictures in them, also might want to right click, and 'open in new window', so you remain on the T4WD site)

Have you seen an underdrive pulley that would fit the 3AC?Throttler wrote:

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.
