Best replacment parts for a new clutch?

Post by jimpomm »

I'm finally ready to put in the working tranny into a car I got a couple years ago. What is the best aftermarket clutch kit and how much? JIm

I have a brand new (not remanufactured) complete Valeo kit (pressure plate, disk, throwout bearing, and alignment tool) that I'd sell for $75 shipped anywhere in the US. It's new, never installed, not even any greasy fingerprints, but I don't have the box. In my experience, the quality of Valeo is on par with Aisin, which was OEM for the Tercel.

Aside from that, avoid remanufactured pressure plates.

clutch kits for new clutch assemblies are typically about $100-120. The one Buffalomasa is offering you sound like a good deal, I would take it.

If you need one in a hurry I have had good luck with NAPA parts, and if they do not have in the local store they can usually get it within a day.

Looks nicer than the Sachs one I have laying around.

As for the best Clutch/Pressure Plate, I believe Exedy(also toyota OEM) makes the best one out there for the 3ac.
They are rated to 215hp, funny since the tercel 4wd has about 63hp......

Thanks everyone for your input. I bought the one offered by buffalomesa and just received it in the mail today. Fast shipping and good communication from a fellow tercel head. Thanks Jim

I'm glad to hear you got it alright. Switching to online shipping and buying a digital shipping scale has really sped up my process. Of course, the mailman is mad at me right now, he just delivered 15 bundles of boxes today...
