Rear bumper

Post by ptothej »

Well, the time to match the rear bumper to the front has arrived. My co worker has a 4wd toyota p/u and came across a tubed bumper at the wreckers.. all alluminum, lift with one hand.. it has two tubes on both sides, with a cut out in the center for a trailer ball/ license plate to sit. Anyhow, along with the front bumper from the same buddy, the truck frame is narrower then where the tercels bumpers mount, so after tearing the rusted half falling off rear bumper off leaving nothing but the frame where the stocker would of attached to. I take two pieces of a decent gauge "L" shaped steel and weld them to the frame to make up the distance between the bumpers mounts and the tercels frame.. everything turned out solid, and makes the car more offroadish looking hahah, I can feel safe to hook up an utility trailer to the damn thing if I wanted as well. Ive found if you want to do a heavier bumper without making a custom one, to look for a truck bumper, they are the perfect width of the tercels, and the only modifying to do is bring where the stock tercel bumper bolts on narrower for the trucks bumper mounts.
Im awesome
