Suspension Lift

Post by ChrisC »

I have been wondering about this idea for while. Id like to be able to do some minor offroading in my SR5 but its pretty darn low at the moment.
Im going to put in some 15" rims to help with clearance a little. But what i was thinking was a 2" spacer on top of the struts in the front and 2" coil spacers in the rear. I dont care too much for cornering abililty. Has anyone ever attempted to lift a wagon before?

There are a couple of people with minor lifts. spacers would do something, I wouldn't do more than an inch or so with spacers.

One thing that helps A LOT, is get new STOCK springs. You wouldn't think, but new springs sit pretty high.

Ditto Neu's comments about stock springs; Goldie is about 1 1/2" higher at the front after installing new springs and KYB inserts last year.

You could technically find some adjustable springs and get them to fit. You could adjust them high for when you want to go offroading, throw some bigger wheels on there and off you go. get back home, put your street tires on there, lower them suckers back down.

I dont think adjustable work very well though. I dont have much knowledge in that area.

Do what I did.
Buy Pedder's springs.
I bought stock height. Came up quite a bit.
They have +20mm ones as well.
Takes a while to come in, but worth it.

Check out this post after I replaced all coils, struts and shockers.
Click on the photo with the trailer and 230kg bike on board, good lift, solid as you would ever need.

How much are the pedders springs and/or the adjustable ones?
I found the list of parts used to lift slightly..

Front shocks: Monroe sensa trac cartridges 72867 x 2
Front Springs: Moog CC212 w/o A/C x 1
Moog CC214 w/ A/C x 1
Rear Air Shocks: Monroe MA720

Are they worth it and anyone know what the price range is?

That's a good price, if the shipping is not a kicker.
Mine were $79 from an AutoZone b&m store last Fall - and still are.

I should put spacers in the front to bring the front up.. I added some weight with my bumper and winch set up.. has anyone figured out what a good taller tire size there is to run after lifting them?

Google Pedders, go to their site, get in touch with a local rep, and find out. I don't remember how much they were, but shipping is fairly high from Australia. However, they and a few other Ozzie companies are the only ones to make rear springs for us, let alone lifted ones. But they are a slick shiny powdercoated red.
