FSM, trade time?

Post by SR5 Tercelerator »

So I need a paper FSM...not gonna bring my laptop to the shop to get greasy. Anyone got an original copy (my car is a 83 sr5)?

Seperately, I could use a consult from someone knowledgeable about these cars and their ghetto fixes.

edit* I think i found the resources I need (removing PH#)* THX.

Thanks,

Marcel

If you have a printer you could just print the PDF version.

I was planning on taking it to office depot and let them print it and threehole punch it. Hopefully I can work it in to front and back and on a little heavier paper, too.

So last night I went to OfficeMax with the PDF and got them to print out the FSM. 400 pages front and back. The total cost was $110!! The copies were 14 cent a page (for front and back, otherwise was 7 cents a page one sided), plus I got a 3" binder and a few packs of plastic dividers to put between section. The end result is a nice manual that is completely labeled front to back in sections, so no more flipping through lots of pages to find that MT section you want. Was it worth $110? Probably not... but I'd much rather have a complete book for whenever I need it rather than just a page or two.

400 pages seems ridiculous...that is seriously like wow. haha, that's hilarious though. 110 dollars and you bought it.

I'd guess that cost was not too bad, save for the inconveniece in downloading and going back and forth to a copying store.
My FSM was $90+tax back in 2005. I ordered it through a Borders bookstore, which in turn ordered it from Toy CA directly; I used Borders because I had a bunch of gift certificates from it.
Dunno what the cost is now, but I'd venture somewhat more.
Note that I eventually had to go to the trouble of three-hole punching all of the pages and putting it into three binders, as the original binding was a POS - as it fell apart quite soon...

I bought mine directly from the publisher, the Toyota dealer provided the name and number for me. Cost was $35.

Ha! 35 dollars is a much better deal I'd say. Oh well, you win some and lose some.

Hmmm - wish I'd thought of that...the several Toy dealers I called in STL all wanted the same as Borders - something a little over $90. This was before I'd heard of Butler Toy in Indy (while probably less, I would seriously doubt that it would have been anywhere near $35).
