So now I just saw the same car I looked at earlier for sale by a different owner. Evidently, he was driving it home and the clutch went out on him. I'm glad I didn't pay 500 for it...

But now the new owner wants to sell it for 400. I think if I could take him into 300, I'll get it.

Do it, offer him 300 to go get it, and just be serious with him, sound firm.

You might get lucky and be able to put a pint of gear oil in the shifter....adjust or replace the clutch cable...and drive it.

My Terc had what seemed to be shifter and clutch problems that turned out to be mostly due to a rusty and dry shfter...and the fact that it had sit so long the clutch pilot bearing was gummy...maybe the throwout bearing too?

So I'm going to go look at it again this afternoon. He says he is firm at 400 dollars, but I'm going to take 400 cash with me, show him 300 of it and go from there. Right now the battery is dead so its going to have to be jumped he said. I told him I want a cold start so I can check for smoke on startup.

If I do get it, It will need to be towed. Is this car safe to tow with just a dolly, or do I need a trailer to get the front and rear wheels off the ground? Its not a very far distance, I'd say probably 15 miles is all I'm going to have to go at most.

I bought it... 360 dollars. ;)

He had the transmission half out so I towed it home and now I have to figure out how to get the tranny all the way out and put it back in. Should be fun. Any recommendations on the best way to print out the FSM?

To print it, use the PDF, and just click print. It'll be like 65 or so pages, i can't remember. Use 100% zoom, it'll fill the page. Other than that..i have no idea.

Just print out the pages you really need? Don't waste a tree.

Just 65 pages? Wow. I would have figured it would be much more than that.
