Brake pad ingredients

Post by splatterdog »

Maybe it just takes a goofball like myself to find this amusing, but I just installed some oreilly's brand ceramic pads. I've seen my share of pad sets and this is the first time in twenty years I've seen a contents list right on the box, or anywhere else for that matter.

Contains-carbon black,ceramic fibers,quartz,4-vinyl cyclohexane,acrylic fiber,alumina,antimony sulfide,aramid fiber,barytes,brass cips,calcium carbonate,cashew resin(cured),cellulose fibers,coal,coke,copper,dititanate,elastomers,glass fibers,graphite,hydrated lime,iron,iron oxide,iron pyrite,kyanite,linseed oil resin(cured),magnesium oxide,mica,mineral fibers,phenolic resin(cured),rottenstone,silica,silcates,steel fibers,talc,titanate,vermiculite,vitreous fibers,whiting,wollastonite fibers,zinc oxide,and zirconium compounds.

Does not contain asbestos. That's good, otherwise they could be dangerous.

Not like I wasn't already glad to be out of the brake factory.....

Also, think about the concentrations of these compounds around stop lights/signs after decades of braking.

I think I've wasted enough of your time.

Sounds like processed food.
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.
