So I'll be going about 4-5k in second, and go to shift to 5th (i only have 1, 2 5th and reverse gears.) and it'll take a second or two (a long second or two) for the RPMS to go down so I can shift right.
Procedure I do.
Get up to 4-5k rpms in 2nd, let off gas and clutch, gas first, then clutch.
Wait for RPMS to fall, which is taking longer to do with this last half tank of Chevron Regular gas
Shift into 5th and release clutch.
I dont like slamming it into 5th still at 3k rpms, cuz to rev-match it and shift I need about 1200rpm.
Any ideas? Clean out the carb maybe? Sticking a lil bit?
When I goto shift, rpms fall slowly
Re: When I goto shift, rpms fall slowly
There is a diaphram on the front of the carb that is supposed to allow it to slow down gradually...I think to prevent stalling or for emissions. You have to pull the PITA air cleaner...I just reset mine again because it wouldn't idle...I just backed it off till it just barely touched while at idle. If you set it to specs you'll probably do it over several Xs. Oiling the linkage and freeing the choke helps too.
I added an extra spring inside the OEM spring on the throttle....had to remove the original...remove the rubber inside it...found a spring of the right length that fit inside the OEM...hooked them BOTH up...now have a slightly stiffer throttle return.

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.
