Can anyone tell me how to remove the clutch of the 1983 Tercel SR5?

Not to be contrary - but I'd suggest doing a Search in the Repair Guides Forum; lots of good info, procedures, and anecdotal accounts there - plus the available FSM.

I have done it both ways and I disagree. If you have a hoist and a good place to pull both the engine and the trans as a unit it is a reasonable thing to do, especially if you need to pull the engine for other reasons. But I am not sure it is any easier (though you do spend a lot less time under the car). You have to remove all the electrical wires, the heater and radiator hoses, the radiator, the front engine mounts, the exhaust pipe, the power steering pump, the AC if you have one, fuel lines, vac lines, etc. all of which you do not have to do when you remove the trans from under the car.
If you do not have an engine hoist, but do have a floor jack, I would say it easier just to pull the trans, though it is a mixed bag. You have to unbolt the engine and trans to get to the clutch anyway, it can be done under the car just as much as out of it (you just have to be on your back when you do it from under the car). The only difficult part is getting the trans aligned and plugged back into the back of the engine, this can be difficult out of the car with the engine and trans rolling around on the driveway too.

ok so heres the thing..
I was told it was a transmission problem... So I posted transmission removal.
Went back to the guy with some of the responses and he said that to try removing the clutch.
All I want to know is how to remove the transmission and how am Im going to remove the clutch?
